midwife centers here in the philippines are actually promoting that newborn babies should not be bathed after birth because of the health benefits of the vernix caseosa. just rub off the after birth fluids, performs all the necessary checks and swaddle the baby.

I had a waterbirth in a birth center that was basically unassisted. Your body will basically tell you how to push. The water helps with stretching the tissue itself, and if you’re squatting the baby will rotate to give the smallest diameter. I tore a tiny bit, but it was healed within 2 days and required no stitches.

sometimes we don’t have a choice how our children are born,I would have loved to have the perfect water birth or any perfect birth for that matter but it didn’t happen for me,that being said,I have 2 darling children I couldn’t live without & I don’t care how they came to me
